A fire in Kühnau caused a stir on Wednesday evening: a wooden pile on Burgkühnauer Allee was on fire. At around 7:05 p.m., the Dessau-Roßlau professional fire department alerted to a “small wood stack fire” after around 100 cubic meters of a long wood stack burned. The exact circumstances that led to this fire are currently unclear, as MZ reports.
The fire department showed all its skills and was able to prevent the fire from spreading into the adjacent forest. The pile of wood was extinguished with foam, while the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) assisted with a wheel loader to shift the pile of wood. A total of six vehicles and 32 comrades were in action, including the professional fire brigade and volunteer fire departments from Kühnau, Alten and Meinsdorf. Police patrol cars were also on site to monitor the situation. The estimated material damage amounts to around 10,000 euros.
