Creative young talents honored: Saxony-Anhalt gives culture price!

On Wednesday, June 19, 2025, the Kunsthaus Salzwedel was awarded a colorful ceremony of the 28th Children's and Youth Culture Prize of the State of Saxony-Anhalt. In a solemn framework, Dr. Sebastian Putz the awards that are endowed with a total of 6,500 euros. Creative contributions in various sectors could be submitted under the motto "Hokus Pocus". Over 120 creative works by more than 800 children and young people from Saxony-Anhalt found their way to the competition. As part of the award ceremony, outstanding services were recognized. The first prize of 2,000 euros went to the “Wuterus” youth editorial team from Radio Corax. Antonia Senkel, Nele Seibert, Philippa Brenner and Martha Kaltwaßer convinced the jury with their innovative series of “witches”. Cara Laube (19 years, Dessau-Roßlau) was awarded the second prize, which is endowed with 1,500 euros. Third place and 1,000 euros secured Lino and Emma Brendler (12 and 15 years, Zahna-Elster) with their submitted song "Simsalabim".

It is particularly gratifying that the hearts of the little artists are also recognized. For example, 26 children aged 6-11 from Halle received the first sponsorship award for their stop motion project "Weltbauer in action". The second sponsorship award went to 18-year-old Ira Köck from Naumburg for her comic "Feline Fables: The Flower of Life". In addition, the special prize of the youth jury worth 500 euros was awarded to Maris Kirchner (19 years, Köthen) for their impressive photography "summon".

Another highlight of the event was the recognition prices that were intended for the creative ideas of five participants. These prices worth 100 euros each:

  • Pauline Heise (12 years, Wallhausen) for the drawing "The magical saying - hokus pokus".
  • Helena John, Emma Esstedt, Amelie Mühlenkamp and Sophie Riese (14-16 years, Schönebeck) for "Hocus Pocus-Magical fashion made of recycling material".
  • Nancy Lux (15 years, Dessau-Roßlau) for the drawing "Magic Magic Laden".
  • Arina Matukhno (12 years, Lutherstadt Wittenberg) for the illustrated story "How can you reach his star".
  • theater group "The Shadow in the Light" (84 children and young people, Haldensleben) for the play "Lost in Paradise".

The children's and youth culture award has been awarded annually since 1997 and is a joint project by the State Chancellery and the Ministry of Culture Saxony-Anhalt in cooperation with the State Association of Cultural Child and Youth Education Saxony-Anhalt e. V. The award winners are honored in June of the year, and the closing date for the next competition, which under the motto "Make it!" stands on April 1, 2026.
