Halloween fun for the whole family: Pumpkin fair in Dessau-Roßlau!

Halloween is just around the corner and there are a variety of events in several cities that promise fun and spooky. Whether Halloween parties, pumpkin fairs or even a ghost zoo - the offerings are diverse and invite you to dress up in scary costumes and enjoy the festival to the fullest. A special focus is on the Pumpkin fair in Dessau-Roßlau, which will take place from October 29th to November 2nd, 2025 on the Dessau market square.

Both children and adults can look forward to great rides at this fair. The special promotions are particularly noteworthy: on October 29th there is a family day with reduced prices, while on October 31st there is a Halloween special for costumed guests. And if you haven't had enough on November 2nd, you can continue celebrating with shopping in the city center on Sunday.

More scary experiences

But that's not all! The Horror zoo in Halle, which has been open since October 11th, brings over 40 animated scenes to the trails. A scary path of fear leads through the zoo, where there is also a ghost express and courageous stands for challenges. The big Halloween nights on October 30th and November 1st promise spooky entertainment.

For those who want to take things a little quieter, the Halloween party at the Halloren chocolate factory in Halle could be just the thing. On October 31st from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., adults and children in costumes have free entry. Not only is chocolate made here, but games are also offered that represent a feast of enjoyment for chocolate lovers big and small.

Pumpkin: The star of the season

In the midst of these celebrations, the pumpkin plays a central role. Despite the fact that only 6% of Germans consider Halloween significant, the pumpkin remains an essential part of fall decorations and cuisine. Whether as pumpkin soup, cake or simply as a decoration, its popularity continues unabated. Pumpkins are a genus of plants that occur in various species such as the giant pumpkin and the Hokkaido.

Speaking of Hokkaido: In Schleswig-Holstein they are available for direct marketing at prices of 1.50 to 2.50 €/kg, and organic qualities even cost a little more. Despite declining cultivated areas - around 79 hectares in 2022 - producers report a good harvest and quality this year. Although the weather conditions had their pitfalls, the wet weather in summer favored growth.

To sum up, the coming days will not only be scary but also delicious! Attend these events and enjoy the festive atmosphere that pumpkin inevitably brings with it. The anticipation of Halloween can be felt everywhere and that's a good thing!
