Parallel to the fire near Raguhn-Jeßnitz, the emergency services also had to take action in Quedlinburg. More than 100 firefighters are deployed there to fight a forest fire at Lehof Rock. The fire spread over an area of ​​approximately 5,000 square meters. On Thursday morning, the emergency services reported a “fire out,” but extinguishing work is continuing. Residents in the area were advised to keep windows and doors closed, but that warning has now been lifted.

There was also a forest fire on Lindenberg in Thale. The flames spread to an area of ​​around 2,000 square meters and the operation there was concluded late on Wednesday evening. Fortunately, the fire is not expected to reignite on Thursday. Another incident occurred in Stiege, where a fire in an apartment building resulted in an injured firefighter.

Current trends and precautionary measures

The risk of forest fires has increased noticeably throughout Saxony-Anhalt, especially in the northern and central regions of the state, where danger levels of four and five have been declared. Extreme caution is also required in Fläming, Dübener Heide and Börde. However, the German Weather Service reports that regional showers and thunderstorms are expected on Thursday.
