Autumn holidays in Nebra: Discover the fascinating sky disk!
The autumn holidays in Saxony-Anhalt are just around the corner and offer an excellent experience for the whole family. A special highlight is the Ark of Nebra in Nebra, which is located where the famous sky disk was found. Visitors can immerse themselves in the world of the Bronze Age and discover the secrets of the cosmos.
The Nebra Arch is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and offers an exciting insight into archeology as well as a variety of activities. A digital planetarium at the heart of the exhibition invites visitors of all ages on a 24-minute journey through the Bronze Age universe. If you come in time, you can enjoy the last show three quarters of an hour before closing time!
Guided tours and entrance fees
Visitors have the opportunity to take part in guided tours that take place without prior appointment on weekends at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. The price of only 3 euros per person (plus entrance fee) is really a good deal! The regular admission price is 9.80 euros, reduced price 6.50 euros, and for families (two adults and four children up to 18 years old) there is an attractive combination offer for 23 euros.
Accessibility is a top priority: There are designated parking spaces for people with walking disabilities and access to the entrance is easy to walk and drive on. Many offers are also available for people with visual impairments or cognitive impairments, making Arche Nebra a place for everyone.
The Treasure of Nebra
The sky disk itself, which was found by robbers near Ziegelroda in 1999, is over 3,600 years old and is the oldest concrete representation of the cosmos in the world. The Nebra Sky Disk is more than a work of art; It shows astronomical phenomena and religious symbols and has had a lasting influence on historiography in Europe. Its production is complex and it is considered one of the greatest cultural assets of the Bronze Age.
Visitors can also stay active outside the ark: the place where the sky disk was found is only 3.5 kilometers away and is marked by the “sky eye”, a polished stainless steel disk. A more than 30 meter high observation tower, similar to an oversized sundial, also offers a fantastic view of the surrounding area and the beautiful landscape of the Harz Mountains.
A visit to Nebra Arch is more than just a day trip – it is an exciting journey into the past. So go ahead and experience the heritage of the Bronze Age up close! Further information and special offers can be found on the website Ark of Nebra.
