Funding for democracy projects: Submit ideas now!

In times when democracy needs to be kept strong and alive, there is fresh news from Burg and the southern Jerichower Land. As Meetingpoint-JL reports, funding is now available for numerous projects that not only promote democracy strengthen, but also promote cooperation in the community. Anyone who has creative ideas and is willing to make the voices of young people heard has come to the right place.

The supported projects should pursue a variety of goals. From making diversity visible to combating discrimination to creating meeting spaces through workshops, festivals or cultural offerings – there is great scope for innovative approaches. An important aspect is the active involvement of young people, because their perspectives are indispensable for functioning democratic coexistence.

Who can submit applications?

But how do the ideas get the money? It's simple: Applications can be submitted by registered associations, gGmbHs or non-profit organizations. Private individuals are left empty-handed. Public institutions such as schools or daycare centers can also submit applications through their sponsors. A quick application process is also guaranteed. Ideas can be easily submitted to the Partnership for Democracy, where they are then discussed and developed together.

Contact with the responsible people has also been provided: Mr. Perry Lukaszczyk, who leads the application consultation, can be reached by email at Perry.Lukaszczyk@awo-sachsenanhalt.de. Mr. Jacob Zeuch is available for the city of Burg at Jacob.Zeuch@Stadt-Burg.de.

A strong program

But there is a much larger project behind these grants. The federal program “Living Democracy!” has been implemented since 2015 and has established itself over the years as one of the most comprehensive programs to strengthen democracy and diversity. As BMBF explains, the program aims to prevent extremism and promote civil society engagement. The third funding period, which runs until 2032, brings with it some adjustments to meet current social challenges.

The core goals of the program are clear: strengthen democracy, create diversity and prevent extremism. The aim is to comprehensively bundle activities through five structured program areas, which include, among other things, the development of a federal central infrastructure and the support of “innovation projects”.

Overall, it shows that there is a lot of potential for new ideas and projects in Burg and the southern Jerichower Land. So anyone who has a good knack for democracy projects should get to work now and submit their ideas to become part of this important initiative.
