Magdeburg Home Days: A weekend full of discoveries and fun!
On the weekend from August 15th to 17th, the city of Magdeburg can expect a hustle and bustle with various events that have something to offer for all tastes. If you don't know what you want to do yet, we've put together a few suggestions here.
Magdeburg home days
The Magdeburg home days are all about culture and caring for the local area. The Magdeburg Cultural and Local History Association invites you to the Ravelin 2 fortress at Maybachstrasse 8. Admission is free and over 14 specialist groups will present a varied program. Topics such as cacti, tin figures and photography are not neglected. The highlights also include a new permanent exhibition on 700 years of Elbe rafting.
The program is just as varied: A musical evening starts at 4 p.m. with accordion music by Martin Müller, followed by a public training in Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA). On Saturday, a lecture on the technical development of land warfare will keep the audience in suspense from 1 p.m., before the German Cactus Society Magdeburg gives insights into their presentation at 3 p.m. Sunday offers exciting insights into the fortress architecture at 1 p.m. and a lecture on the history of postcards at 3 p.m.
Party and flea markets
Mega MALLE – the big Mallorca party
The same weekend takes place on August 16thMega MALLEtook place in the Elbarenpark. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and the event will last until 10 p.m. It's rocking here - with stars from the Mallorca scene like Vanessa Mai, Ikke Hipgold and Peter Wackel. Entry information is available and promises an unforgettable day.
Family flea market in Mark Fortress
Also on Sunday, August 17th, Mark Fortress will open its doors for a family flea market from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. From toys to children's clothing to antique tableware, everyone can find a bargain here. Admission is free, and stand fees are only 17.00 euros for an area of 1.80 meters.
Community festivals and sporting events
Detershagen village festival
If you like something a little more idyllic, you can travel to Detershagen on August 16th. Celebrations take place around the village pond and community center from 12:00 p.m. to midnight. In addition to delicious dishes such as pea soup and grilled dishes, air rifle and goal wall shooting competitions offer an exciting supporting program. By the way, entry is unclear, but the atmosphere is sure to be great.
Season opener Blue White Loburg
Football fans also shouldn't miss August 16th: Blau Weiß Loburg's season opener against Traktor Tucheim will take place at the sports field in Möckern from 2:00 p.m. Here, too, there is no concrete information about admission prices yet.
As you can see, there is something for every taste! No matter whether you want to be pampered with music or go on a bargain hunt - this week offers exciting experiences.
