Shock in castle: Police confiscate 1.3 kilos of crystal meth!

In recent weeks there have been several notable drug discoveries in Germany that point to the growing problem with crystal meth. On July 9, 2025, a warehouse containing 1.3 kilograms of this dangerous substance was discovered by the police in Burg. The street value of this quantity is estimated at around 100,000 euros. “This was possible thanks to the committed cooperation between the protective police and criminal police in the Jerichower Land police station,” explained a police spokesman. The investigation is ongoing to find out more about the background to this seizure and to hold those responsible accountable, as Volksstimme reports.

What makes crystal meth so dangerous? This drug is often inhaled, injected or smoked and is extremely addictive. The effect is brutal: it can last between six and 48 hours and is only slowly broken down by the body. A circumstance that seriously endangers the physical and mental health of consumers and promotes dependence.

A record find in Frankfurt

But Burg is not the only city facing the drug problem. On July 2, 2025, an incredible drug discovery of 160 kilograms of crystal meth was announced at Frankfurt Airport, which is the largest in German air traffic. Customs authorities discovered the drug during an inspection of a shipment of goods from Mexico that was allegedly intended for the production of paving stones. Crystal meth was cleverly hidden in a metal box, and the customs investigators removed the drugs by the load, supported by the airport fire department, as Osthessen-News reports.

The arrest of four suspected masterminds in the Netherlands shows how widely networked the illegal drug business is. The investigation is still in full swing and the authorities are doing everything they can to investigate the background to this large shipment of goods.

The current status of the drug problem

The explosive situation surrounding drugs such as crystal meth is underpinned by the current figures from the Epidemiological Addiction Survey and the Gambling Survey in Germany. According to the Federal Drug Commissioner, stimulants such as methamphetamine in particular are on the rise and pose a serious problem for society. In the 18 to 64 age group, abuse and addiction to painkillers, antidepressants and other substances are a growing issue.

The worrying developments shed a critical light on drug policy in Germany and show that the fight against drug trafficking is a daily challenge. The operations of the police and customs authorities are essential in order to get the growing threats to society under control.
