Learning camps in Saxony-Anhalt: Holidays full of knowledge and fun for 1,200 students!

In Saxony-Anhalt, the students are once again in for a great learning holiday this year: a total of 1,200 children and young people can take part in the range of 67 learning camps that were set up especially for the summer holidays. Education Minister Jan Riedel makes it clear how important these camps are for the personal progress and self-confidence of young learners. The camps provide both academic and social benefits by promoting fun learning and a sense of community. This initiative is intended to help catch up on learning deficits and strengthen academic skills, which has become particularly important during the Corona period.

The learning camps take place at nine different locations in Saxony-Anhalt: Gorenzen, Halle, Kelbra, Nebra, Magdeburg, Naumburg, Thale, Wernigerode and Wittenberg. All places are housed in youth hostels, which offer an ideal, learning-friendly atmosphere. Here, participants can not only work on their school knowledge, but also make new friends in a relaxed environment.

Intensive learning offer

The combination of intensive learning and varied leisure activities is particularly impressive. Experienced lecturers and educational staff are available during the camps and ensure that the young people receive the best possible support. Since this initiative launched in 2021, 233 holiday learning camps have already been held and over 4,500 young people have benefited from them. With the current increased capacity, these numbers will now be increased to around 5,700 participants across the state, reports Meeting point.

If you would like to use your time at school productively, you also have the option of using Student Aid's free online learning center. This offer (cf. SKS Pushkin ) is available not only to students but also to teachers in Saxony-Anhalt. The platform offers independently usable learning videos, webinars and interactive tasks on subjects such as mathematics, German, English and many others. This allows students to specifically engage with the subject matter in their free time, supplemented by materials that take different learning types into account.

Learning camps – a successful concept

The success of the learning camps is also reflected in the nationwide demand: the events are very well received and have become an integral part of the educational offering during the summer holidays. Loud South German newspaper The Ministry of Education in Magdeburg cooperates with the German Youth Hostel Association of Saxony-Anhalt and the State Association of Adult Education Centers. This collaboration ensures that the camps offer special educational offerings and a comprehensive supporting program.

The positive response proves that the learning camps are not only very popular with students, but also convince parents and teachers. For all those who are still hesitant, now is the perfect time to find out about the diverse offerings and spend the summer actively and educationally!
