In Saxony-Anhalt, the pupils are facing great learning holidays again this year: a total of 1,200 children and adolescents can take part in the offer of 67 learning camps, which was set up especially for the summer vacation. Minister of Education Jan Riedel makes it clear how important these camps are for personal progress and self -confidence of young learners. The camps have both school and social advantages by promoting the fun of learning and community feeling. This initiative is intended to help catch up and strengthen school skills, which has become particularly important around the Corona period.

The learning camps take place at nine different locations in Saxony-Anhalt: Gorenzen, Halle, Kelbra, Nebra, Magdeburg, Naumburg, Thale, Wernigerode and Wittenberg. All places are housed in youth hostels that offer an ideal, learning -friendly atmosphere. Here the participants can not only work up their school knowledge, but also establish new friendships in a relaxed environment.

Experienced lecturers and educational staff are available during the camps and ensure that the young people are promoted as best as possible. Since the start of this initiative in 2021, 233 holiday learning camps have been carried out and over 4,500 young people have been able to benefit from it. In this way, pupils can influence the teaching material in their free time, supplemented by materials that take different learning types into account.

The success of the learning camps is also evident in the nationwide demand: the events are very well received and are an integral part of the educational offer during the summer vacation. According to Süddeutscher Zeitung cooperates in Magdeburg with the German Jugendherbergsverband Sachsen-Anhalt and the state association of adult education centers. This cooperation ensures that the camps can come up with special educational offers and a comprehensive supporting program.
