Henry Berg: New Presidium member of the 1. FC Magdeburg appointed!

Magdeburg, Deutschland - The 1. FC Magdeburg decided on July 2, 2025 for a new direction: Henry Berg was appointed to the Presidium. The square, which was previously occupied by Simone Borris, was now taken through Berg after a representative of the Magdeburg FFC was initially intended, which was not available. After a careful consideration, the presidium of the association decided on Berg, who can fall back on an extensive experience from his voluntary work on the economic advisory board and as a former football professional. "I am very happy about this opportunity and like to bring my knowledge," said Berg, who is well familiar with with the processes of the association and its employees.

Jörg Biastoch, President of 1. FC Magdeburg e.V., is enthusiastic about the new profession. "Henry not only brings sporting expertise, but also entrepreneurial know-how. This will benefit our club," said Biastoch. Matthias Niedung, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, reports that the decision to appoint Berg was unanimously made. Its goal will be to further strengthen and develop the sporting area and the youth performance center (NLZ).

An important step for youth promotion

The NLZ of the 1. FC Magdeburg plays a central role in the development of young talents. The construction of a functional building is currently on the agenda, which is funded by the state of Saxony-Anhalt with more than 2.15 million euros. Interior Minister Tamara Zieschang handed over the funding notice, where this new building as one of the most important funding projects in the federal state will be classified this year.

The new building that will represent the heart of the NLZ is designed for the promotion of young talents. In addition to changing rooms, training rooms and offices are planned to offer optimal conditions for training and development of young players. The following facilities are realized here on two floors: eight changing rooms, sanitary areas, strength and athletic rooms, storage rooms, as well as a video analysis room.

sustainability in focus

The aspect of sustainability is particularly gratifying: the functional building is equipped with a photovoltaic system and a battery memory, which optimizes the self -consumption of electricity. With this measure, the 1. FC Magdeburg not only relies on the promotion of young athletes, but also on responsibility towards the environment.

Overall, it turns out that the 1. FC Magdeburg is on a very promising path with the appointment of Henry Berg and the planned expansion of the NLZ. It remains exciting to observe how these developments will affect the club and future talents.
