Rockharz Festival 2025: Metal party despite the heat wave a complete success!

Ballenstedt, Deutschland - Another chapter in the history of the Rockharz-Festival was recently written in the picturesque ballenstedt. The festival, which can now look at over 30 years, ended this year after a week full of unforgettable music and with more than 50 bands that made the hearts of metal fans beat faster on two stages. At temperatures over 35 degrees Celsius, the more than 25,000 expected visitors were not only offered a lot musically, but also when it comes to security.

The organizers reported a “particularly smooth” festival that took place at the same time during the first heat wave of the year. In order to give the guests a pleasant time, water cannons were set up for cooling and additional shadow spaces and water points were set up. Around 700 helpers, including numerous paramedics, ensured that all visitors were well looked after and the security was always guaranteed.

accessibility and inclusion

The focus was particularly remarkable for accessibility that focused on this year. Recycling routes and barrier-free sanitary facilities, as well as special platforms on the stages, made the festival for everyone, while a separate inclusion camping area with nursing care was set up. Such measures are not only commendable, they also show that the Rockharz-Festival deals with the needs of all festival visitors.

The roots of the rock resin go back to the early 1990s when the event started as a small concert in Osterode am Harz. Over the years, the festival has developed into one of the largest metal open airs in Germany and has been one of the festival calendars since then. The double stage, which has been active in Ballenstedt since 2009, ensures that there are no overlaps in the appearances, which makes the entire planning enormously easier.

headliner and outlook

This year, top acts like King Diamond and Powerwolf are enthusiastic about the crowd that was not only music, but also a community experience. The pre-sale for the upcoming Rockharz Festival 2026 will start on Monday-a sign of the continuing popularity of this event.

For the future, the festival plans the changeover to tank beer to further reduce the CO2 footprint. In addition, the festival's garbage concept is continued with the "Happiness in Doses" campaign, in which deposit bottles collected and the proceeds will go to social projects. With a wide range of security measures - from an accident aid point to the new mobile care container for people with impairments - the rock resin is well equipped for the coming years.

For all festival fans and those who want to become one, it remains to be seen which surprises the next year will have - it remains exciting in Ballenstedt!
