Halle (Saale) inspires investors: future at Riebeckplatz in focus!
The Expo Real real estate trade fair in Munich from October 6th to 8th, 2025 has proven to be a real magnet for investors and project developers. The positive farewell to the event was noted with great satisfaction, particularly by the city of Halle (Saale). The local administration, represented by the Department of Economics, Science and Digitalization as well as the Development and Management Company Halle-Saalekreis mbH (EVG), took the opportunity to present concrete plans for the future. Dubist Hall reports that the main focus was on the vacant commercial space and two large transformation projects on Riebeckplatz.
The upcoming projects, including the Future Center for German Unity and European Transformation as well as the revitalization of the former RAW site, could bring a significant development boost to Halle. Mayor Egbert Geier emphasized that Halle is becoming a growing business location and that Riebeckplatz will play a crucial role in this transformation. The plans for the RAW area in particular are generating a lot of interest, as a modern, urban district for companies, science and the creative industries is to be created here.
Promote growth and shape the future
The managing director of EVG, Robert Weber, reported on the consistently positive response that Halle received at the trade fair. Investors showed great interest in industrial, logistics and innovation projects, with the focus on the Central Germany region. With a digital tool for expressing interest, EVG wants to involve potential partners at an early stage and encourage them to help shape the change. The upcoming projects will be presented under the motto “Europe's future center is growing at Riebeckplatz”. There are clear goals: around 1,500 new jobs are to be created here in the next few years, which will not only strengthen Halle, but also the entire region. Hall spectrum emphasizes that the future center could attract up to a million visitors annually, which would also be a great economic benefit.
Cologne also showed its best side at the trade fair. Under the motto “Cologne – where the future is created,” the city presented itself with a variety of urban development projects, including the Weltstadthaus and the Deutz port development. The largest trade fair for real estate and investments in Europe counted 19 partners from business who highlighted the current economic diversity and the opportunities that Cologne offers companies. Cologne.Business reports record employment and an astonishingly low vacancy rate of 5.0% in the office market. These positive conditions are the perfect breeding ground for further investments.
A look into the future
The trade fair clearly showed that both Halle and Cologne are well positioned in the competition for investors and projects. While Halle is relying on the development of Riebeckplatz and the hoped-for new jobs, Cologne is relying on a healthy mix of innovative urban development projects and a stable economic basis. Both cities have big plans and a clear vision for the future that are worth watching.
The Expo Real made it clear: things are moving forward in Halle and Cologne, and the coming years promise exciting developments!
