Accident chaos in the Salzland district: Injured people and drug trips cause excitement!
There were several traffic accidents in the region on Thursday afternoon, once again highlighting the challenges in road traffic. A 49-year-old driver who was traveling from Beesedau towards her hometown was startled when a 77-year-old woman turning left ignored the right of way. In an evasive maneuver, her car crashed into a tree, resulting in minor injuries and a total loss of the vehicle. Fortunately, the 77-year-old was uninjured and there was no contact between the vehicles.
But that wasn't the only incident that day. Four people were injured in another accident on the L50 near Könnern. Here a 67-year-old driver ignored his obligation to wait and was hit by a car coming from the left. As a result of the collision, two people had to be admitted to the Aschersleben Clinic, while the other two sought medical help on their own. Firefighters were on site to clean up leaking fluids and tow away the damaged vehicles.
Traffic accident statistics: A look at the numbers
The most common causes of traffic accidents are: Destatis insufficient distance, inappropriate speed and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In addition, the risk of accidents on motorways and federal highways remains significantly higher than on roads with less traffic. In recent years there has also been an increasing number of accidents involving e-bikes and e-scooters, which shows that new means of transport also bring their dangers.
