Stendal celebrates the Rolandfest: safety and tradition combined!

The Rolandfest in Stendal was ceremoniously opened on Friday evening. Mayor Bastian Sieler (independent) gave the official starting signal for the festival on the market square. This weekend, which will last until Sunday, visitors flocked around the high symbol of city law, the Stendaler Roland, which has embodied urban freedom since the early 16th century. The city has budgeted 120,000 euros for the celebrations, which represents a noticeable reduction in expenses compared to previous years. Sieler emphasizes that despite financial constraints, the tradition of the festival must be upheld, which only increases the very good atmosphere on the first few days of the festival.

This year, security measures are a particular focus of the city administration. To protect visitors, eight entrances were secured with concrete blocks and mobile barriers. The city is investing not only in the overall costs of the festival, but also in new security measures that are adapted to the current situation. The organization of the event is based on a tried and tested security concept that is intended to ensure safety at major events, which the city of Stendal implements in collaboration with experts. The North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of the Interior also published data on this, which supports municipalities in planning and implementing such events - after all, proper implementation places great emphasis on the safety of citizens.

A colorful program for all generation groups

The Rolandfest program offers something for every age group. Local artists will perform at the stage at the Wüste Worth parking lot, which is replacing Sperlingsberg this year. On Friday the band “Tick2Loud” will impress you, while on Saturday from 4 p.m. the music and art school will be performing various acts. On Sunday, visitors can look forward to the music students from the “Frank Wedel” musician factory, who can be heard from 1:30 p.m.

Another highlight is the Rolandfest party night on Saturday at 8 p.m. and the performance by pop singer Annemarie Eilfeld on Sunday from 5 p.m., even if there is a weather warning for thunderstorms until then. There is a wide range of offerings for families at the medieval market: from fairy tales to the Punch and Judy show to the clown show. And the living tradition is not neglected; The Araga Mysteria fire show, which takes place on Friday and Saturday at 10 p.m. and midnight on Winckelmannplatz, provides magical moments.

Practical information for festival visitors

There is some practical information for those arriving. The Worth Desert and Brüderstraße are closed to motorists and are therefore part of the festival area. Parking options near the festival could quickly become scarce; Fortunately, free parking spaces are available at Nordwall, Schützenplatz and in front of the Athos restaurant. Further parking spaces are located on Stadtseeallee, on Uchtewall and in the train station car park on Lüderitzer Straße, about a 10-15 minute walk away.

With all of these offers and the high level of attention to safety, this year's Rolandfest will be an unforgettable experience. The vibrant city life is colorful and lively, offering a wonderful opportunity to celebrate traditions and come together. It doesn't take much to realize: the people of Stendal know how to party!
