Speed cameras in Stendal: Pay attention to speed monitoring now!
On September 4, 2025, the police in the Hanseatic city of Stendal will ensure order on the streets. How news.de reports, speed measurements are carried out at three different locations to ensure that all road users adhere to the prescribed speed limits. Particular attention is paid to Bismarckstraße, Gardelegener Straße and the B188 area in Döbbelin.
The speed limit in the old town of Stendal is 50 km/h, while on Gardelegener Straße and the B188 the speed limit is 70 km/h. The first speed cameras were reported near Döbbelin at 6:01 p.m. Another measurement followed at 6:10 p.m. in Wahrburg, before the speed was also checked in Bismarckstrasse at 6:47 p.m.
Safe streets for everyone
Why are speed measurements so important? The speed limits are not only annoying, but above all serve to ensure road safety ADAC explained. Various measuring methods are used in Germany, including laser, radar and induction loops. Every procedure must first be technically tested and approved.
Speeding can be expensive, especially outside built-up areas. A violation of more than 26 km/h, for example, leads to a fine of 150 euros and a point in the driving fitness register. Anyone who repeatedly drives too fast within a year is even faced with a driving ban of one month, according to information from the catalog of fines show.
Transparency and susceptibility to errors
An interesting, if alarming, study shows that 56% of fine notices may be incorrect. Of the 14,783 cases reviewed, 1,183 were only technically inaccurate, while 3,696 cases lacked an evidentiary basis. Only 44% of the processes ran correctly. This makes it even more important to watch your own pace and, if necessary, seek legal advice - for example from lawyers who specialize in traffic law.
In Stendal, the traffic situation is continuously monitored to ensure safety for all road users. It remains to be seen how many drivers will be able to adhere to the rules and whether the controls will continue in the future. But one thing is clear: If you don't pay attention, you have to face consequences - a well-intentioned reminder for everyone who is on the road today.
