Special exhibition and concert: cultural highlights in Osterburg until the end of August!
In Osterburg, or more precisely in the district museum, everything currently revolves around the history of gastronomy. The special exhibition “Restaurants in the old Osterburg district – insights into the history of gastronomy” has been extended until August 31st due to the great interest from visitors. While the exhibition originally opened on July 13th and was supposed to run until August 24th, the month that has begun is proving to be a real attraction for those interested and history lovers. Pictures and objects from local restaurants, pastry shops, hotels and cultural centers are shown, and the exhibition includes contributions from Altenzaun to Zühlen. There was also great support from the public when it came to providing information, pictures and objects. The local historian Lothar Müller played a central role in the compilation, as [[landkreis-stendal.de](https://www.landkreis-stendal.de/de/pressemitigungen/mit-verlaengerter-sonder exhibition-und-konzert.html)] reports.
The opening hours of the district museum are optimal for enthusiastic visitors: from Tuesday to Friday between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The finissage of the exhibition takes place on the last day of opening hours, from 2:30 p.m. Here you have the opportunity to immerse yourself once again in the gastronomic history of the region and to exchange ideas with like-minded people.
Cultural highlights as part of the music festival
August 23rd will be particularly festive when Nigel Connell's concert takes place as part of the 30th Altmark Music Festival. Connell will be heard at 7 p.m., and the concert will also celebrate the county museum's 90th anniversary. The entry price of 12 euros is a real bargain, and tickets are available at the district museum or by calling 03937 83730. Connell brings a diverse repertoire that includes both original compositions and reinterpreted cover songs. In addition to Connell, Adrian Seybusch (keys, vocals), Mario Meinel (guitar, vocals) and Christian Georgi (saxophone, flutes, tin whistle) will also be on stage. Several talents come together here and promise an entertaining evening for the listeners.
The music festival itself, which will take place from August 9th to November 5th, 2025, is eagerly awaited by the region. This year it will be particularly exciting because the event is celebrating its 30th anniversary and brings music to holy sites, monasteries, castles and cultural monuments between the Elbe, Havel and Drömling. The complete anniversary program can be viewed at [musikfest-altmark.de].
Variety of events in Saxony-Anhalt
But there's not only a lot going on in Osterburg - the event calendar in Saxony-Anhalt is packed with wonderful events. The Zerbst Local History and Shooting Festival will offer a colorful hustle and bustle with riding tournaments, live music and family days over eleven days. At the same time, the Harz Festival in Hüttenrode invites visitors to enjoy music and regional specialties. On August 15th there will also be a museum night in Zerbst, which will set a special highlight with a performance by Gabriela Velasco. Anyone who would like to experience the illumination of miniatures of famous Harz buildings should mark August 16th in the Kleiner Harz, while on August 30th a historic harvest festival in Bernburg-Strenzfeld will create an atmospheric atmosphere.
