Something really big is happening at the picturesque harbor of Tangermünde. A new open-air stage is being built, which many are already eagerly waiting for. Loud daily news The city and the Altmark Theater have now signed an official cooperation agreement, and the anticipation of the opening is palpable. This is scheduled to take place in summer 2026 and offer space for 500 spectators!
The first play to be performed on this new picturesque stage will be the popular musical “Spamalot”, based on the cult film “The Knights of the Coconut” by Monty Python. A total of twelve performances are planned, which will be spiced up with a local band and extras from the area - a real festival for those interested in culture in the region!
Economic potential in focus
Mayor Steffen Schilm is convinced that this initiative will not only revitalize the cultural scene, but will also have positive economic effects. Gastronomy, hotels and retail are expected to benefit from the new venue. Despite the initial financial challenges, the city administration expects a deficit of 70,000 to 80,000 euros in the first few years, but could make a profit in the following years if capacity utilization is good. The introduction of a guest contribution, which currently amounts to one euro per day, is also intended to generate additional income, although an increase in this amount is already being discussed MDR reported.
The citizens of Tangermünde are not just passive, but are actively involved in the design of the new open-air stage. You are invited to submit suggestions for naming the stage by the end of October. This is an excellent opportunity to identify with and help shape the new cultural site.
