Bundeswehr announces exciting night flights over Wittenberg!

The Bundeswehr has exciting news for the region: between October 20th and 30th, a large-scale exercise will take place in the districts of Wittenberg, Potsdam Mittelmark and Jerichower Land. This is a night-time exercise that will have similarities to a maneuver in May. How MZ.de reported, the focus is on various scenarios in which specialized forces from the Bundeswehr and its NATO partners are supposed to demonstrate their cooperation and operational capability, especially in complex operations from the air and in the dark.

Although no further details about the exercise were announced, it is expected that helicopters will cover a large part of the exercises. How exactly this exercise will be organized remains to be seen. However, interested citizens can already take a look at past exercises in the region carried out by the Bundeswehr, US Army and NATO.

Past and upcoming exercises

NN.de eine Ausnahmegenehmigung des Bundesministeriums der Verteidigung den Übungszeitraum auch außerhalb der regulären Schießzeiten ermöglicht hat.

The combat exercises carried out there include both vehicle and helicopter escorts, which are carried out at night both in open areas and in barracks. Around 25 soldiers, five vehicles and five helicopters are in action. The past year has shown that such exercises are essential for cooperation among NATO partners.

Further maneuvers such as “Combined Resolve 26-01”, in which around 2,000 US soldiers will take part, are also planned in the coming months. This maneuver is scheduled to be carried out in various counties between October 6th and November 11th and includes tactical road marches as well as the construction of artillery positions and drone flights. Here, too, there is a clear request to the population: stay away from the training areas and immediately report any ammunition or military items found to the police.

It will therefore remain exciting in the region when the Bundeswehr and its partners demonstrate their skills in the upcoming exercises. The public is asked to show understanding for the increased noise levels during the exercises and to behave cautiously in the corresponding exercise area.
