Wittenberg experiences a musical premiere: accordion sounds on the market square!

On Friday, August 15, 2025, the city of Wittenberg awaits a very special musical event. The Accordion quartet “collegium krart” gives its first concert in the city laboratory on the market square. From 7 p.m., visitors will be carried away by the sounds of the ensemble, which was founded in October 2024 from talented musicians from the State Accordion Ensemble of Saxony-Anhalt.

The evening's program will offer an exciting mix of works by Beethoven, Truhlar and Derbenko. The focus is also on original compositions and adaptations of classical and contemporary pieces. A special musician in the ensemble is the 19-year-oldAnthony David, who comes from Wittenberg and has been playing the accordion for 15 years. Anton will begin studying at the renowned Franz Liszt University of Music in Weimar in October.

Entry and further appearances

Not only does the event promise an evening full of music, it is also free. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and donations are requested to support the cultural offerings in Wittenberg. There will also be another concert by the ensemble on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Georgenkirche in Dessau, which offers the opportunity to enjoy the sounds of the accordion outside of Wittenberg.

A touch of classic in the city

The importance of such events is often underestimated. Concerts not only promote the local cultural scene, but also offer young talents like Anton a platform to present themselves and their art. Wherever these musicians perform, they bring a touch of joie de vivre and culture into people's everyday lives. It remains to be seen how the Wittenbergers and their guests will react to this premiere - the signs are good for a successful evening.

Anyone interested should not miss the appointment and maybe even come a little early to get a place in the front rows. The anticipation for the ensemble's musical contributions is great and promises to be a memorable evening.
