In a worrying development, a violent break-in occurred in Wittenberg on Wednesday, June 18th. Between 10:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., two unknown perpetrators tampered with a shop on Dessauer Strasse. The police report that it is currently unclear whether anything was stolen during this incident, but they are looking for witnesses who can provide helpful information about the identity of the two burglars. According to the description, the perpetrators are between 20 and 30 years old, with the taller of the two measuring around 190 to 200 cm and having a bald head. He was wearing light-colored trousers, a light-colored T-shirt and was carrying a Bundeswehr emergency bag. His accomplice was significantly smaller, also around 20 to 30 years old, and had medium-length hair and was wearing a dark outfit with a T-shirt and long pants. He was traveling with a transparent foil bag and two shopping bags. The police have already initiated an investigation and are asking for help on 03491/4690 to catch the perpetrators, as Volksstimme reports.
The break-in in Wittenberg is not the only incident of its kind in the region. As further research shows, there was a whole series of break-ins in Wittenberg and the neighboring town of Jessen. A total of three gazebos were broken into in the allotment garden in Wittenberg between November 14th and 16th, 2024, with the estimated total damage there being around 1,000 euros. Jessen is not spared from crime either, as a total of 20 garages in various facilities were broken into on the night of November 16th to 17th, 2024. The police have secured clues in both cases and initiated the investigation to bring together the current break-ins, as the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung reports.
