Experience the new exhibition in the Baroque Rammenau Castle!
The Baroque Rammenau Palace has presented itself in new splendor! Under the title “Cowshed and Silver Plate”, visitors can expect a freshly designed permanent exhibition that delves deeply into the world of the nobility and country life. Loud MDR Guests can not only explore the opulent rooms of the castle, but also get hands-on: They can try out their skills by milking a cardboard cow and also learn more about the Merino sheep from Cadiz. This interactive facet makes the exhibition an experience for young and old.
The castle itself is an architectural highlight and the only completely preserved Baroque complex in Saxony, built by Ernst Ferdinand von Knoch under the rule of August the Strong. The new exhibition is not only a homage to the opulent lifestyle of the nobility, but also illuminates the reality of the lower landed nobility, who often had to support themselves.
Special exhibition dedicated to August the Strong
To celebrate the Baroque, the special exhibition about August the Strong is coming to the castle's Cavaliers' House. This exhibition, previously shown at Mildenstein Castle and Moritzburg Castle, addresses the glorified myth of August and his important role in Saxony. Visitors can look forward to interactive elements such as 3-D animations, bending horseshoes and the use of VR glasses, which do not skimp on entertainment and knowledge. This interesting show is included in normal castle admission and runs until March 31, 2024 Weekly Courier reported.
In addition to the exhibitions, guests can also use the extensive gardens. Picnicking is expressly permitted in the castle park, which is a popular attraction, especially in the warm season. Various events take place regularly to accompany the facilities, including yoga classes, garden tours and open-air concerts.
Opening times and events
The permanent exhibition is open from Wednesday to Monday between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. from April to October, while in the colder months from November to March the castle gates are open from Wednesday to Monday until 4:00 p.m. The castle remains closed on Tuesdays.
