Saxony's Abitur 2025: Dream grades from Bischofswerda to Bautzen!
On June 27, 2025, the time has finally come: the high school diplomas will be presented, and the graduates are very happy. As usual, the schools in Saxony delivered excellent results. Sächsische.de reports that a total of 16,739 high school graduates graduated and this year 348 students graduated with the dream grade of 1.0 - a nice increase compared to last year, when there were 256 A grades.
The schools in the Bautzen district are particularly proud: at the Goethe-Gymnasium in Bischofswerda, four students achieved the top grade, followed by the Philipp-Melanchthon-Gymnasium with three A grades. Two high school graduates each received a 1.0 certificate at the Schiller High School and the Sorbian High School in Bautzen. The Bautzen vocational school center and the Immanuel-Kant-Gymnasium in Wilthen also drew attention with their A grade each.
Successful Abitur exams in Saxony
The results speak for themselves: In the 2023/2024 school year, high school graduates achieved an average grade of 2.18 and are therefore at a level comparable to the previous year, where the average was 2.16. According to information from Media service Saxony 9,978 students achieved the general university entrance qualification, which corresponds to a pass rate of 96.5 percent. This rate remains stable if you look at the previous year, when it was 96.6 percent.
The Minister of Education, Christian Piwarz, praised the work of the teachers and the quality of school education in Saxony. “The students show outstanding achievements and we are proud of our teachers who make these successes possible,” says Piwarz. This corresponds to the stable exam results at Saxony's schools, where around 96 percent of students successfully passed their final exams - last year it was 97 percent Education Saxony reported.
