Chemnitz welcomes Budweiser delegation – Cultural Exchange 2025!
On Friday, November 7th, things will be lively in the Chemnitz town hall, as Mayor Sven Schulze welcomes a delegation of around 30 people from České Budějovice. This important encounter is part of a cultural exchange that focuses on the very young participants. Here, the young people have the opportunity to network with the Chemnitz Team Generation and meet other actors in order to take part in an exciting program.
A warm welcome is expected at 2:15 p.m. in the town hall, where Schulze will present Chemnitz as European Capital of Culture 2025. Before that, from 1 p.m., the guests will be welcomed by Andrea Pier and Stefan Schmidtke, the managing directors of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH, in the Hartmannfabrik. A photo moment is scheduled for 1:55 p.m. before the delegation moves on to town hall.
Cultural exchange in focus
The České Budějovice delegation's trip, which will take place on November 7th and 8th, aims to promote long-term cooperation between the cultural capitals. České Budějovice, the capital of the South Bohemian Region in the Czech Republic, will have the honor of being European Capital of Culture in 2028 together with Bourges (France) and Skopje (North Macedonia). The visit to Chemnitz is intended to serve as a springboard to launch future projects and joint initiatives.
As part of the exchange, participants take part in workshops organized by the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH. These workshops aim to actively involve young people in the Capital of Culture concept. The diverse activities range from a meeting with the “Dancing Neighbors” to dance together to a visit to the garage campus to trips to the cultural region to explore objects on the Purple Path.
A look beyond the borders
The stop in the Czech town of Jáchymov in the Bohemian Ore Mountains will be particularly interesting, where the delegation will receive an introduction to the cross-border project “ExtractiveZones.eu”. This point makes it clear how important exchange is not only for culture, but also for the economic and social connection between the regions. Art and culture can ultimately trigger sustainable changes in the world we live in, as those responsible for chemnitz2025.de emphasize.
The appointment of Chemnitz as European Capital of Culture 2025 marks an important step for the region to set an example and bring people together. The aim is to make the topics that are important beyond Chemnitz and Saxony visible. This helps to establish West Saxony as a livable and productive region on the European map. This cultural delight will be accentuated with an official start on January 18, 2025 under the motto “C the Unseen”, as will germany.representation.ec.europa.eu reported.
In summary, the visit from Budweis is a further step towards increased cultural exchange, which not only benefits the young participants but also the entire Chemnitz region. The year 2025 will not only be a celebration of cultures, but also a platform for the development of shared knowledge and skills in the field of international youth work and culture.
