The new building belongs to a comprehensive bathroom complex, which also includes a modern swimming pool. The enormous renovation costs of 7.66 million euros were borne by the federal government and the country. Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky (independent) was pleased with the progress and the successful reopening of the bathroom, which has a long tradition: it was first opened in 1925.

The renovation was initiated in 2020, and a lot has happened since then. The indoor pool had already been successfully completed before the reopening in September 2022. The outdoor pool itself now offers a 50-meter basin, a fun pool with water mushroom and slides. A new building is home to modern changing areas and sanitary rooms and ensures more comfort for the bathers.

A look at the innovations

Before the theses, the previous 100-meter pool was converted into two pools. Around half of the spacious lawn can currently be used, which offers space for around 1,000 visitors at the same time. It is planned to complete the remaining outer part by the end of July 2025, which should contribute to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the bathing complex. BSW City Councilor Ralf Becker, himself formerly active as a lifeguard, was present at the opening and swam as the first city council in the new stainless steel pool.

The official opening times of the outdoor pool are from now to August 10th daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. After August 11th, times decrease to 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors can look forward to a lively range of leisure activities in a modernized environment.

The overall impression of the swimming complex

The new swimming pool, which was solemnly opened on World Children's Day, also inspires the population. It convinces with a 25-meter pool, spacious changing rooms, a teaching pool as well as a children's paddling pool and jumping facilities. The entire swimming sports complex, a project by the Dresden architecture firm Code Unique Architects GmbH and Storch landscape architecture, was created over a period of eight years, which was not unproblematic due to the corona -related delays and challenges in the construction industry. A total of 37 companies and ten planning offices were involved in the construction.

In addition, the technical area of ​​the new hall offers the latest equipment with large tanks for the pools and a photovoltaic system on the roof. An additional multi -purpose pool with a slide and wave pool will also be part of the offer in the course of the completion of the outdoor area. The total costs for this comprehensive project amount to around 25 million euros, which is a big prize for the region.

The opening of the outdoor pool and the completion of the swimming pool are a clear step towards better leisure activities for the citizens: inside the region and show that Bernsdorf is committed to the future of swimming sports. These investments in the infrastructure are a good sign for everyone who would like to swim or just want to be relaxed on the water.
