Art on Attack: How it can heal our democracy!
On November 6th, an exciting event entitled “The art of staying many” took place at the Hartmann factory in Chemnitz. Moderator Natascha Freundel led the heated discussion, which was attended by prominent guests such as Philipp Ruch, Sasha Marianna Salzmann and Simon Strauß. This round dealt with the role of art in a democracy threatened by autocratic tendencies and the question of how art can assume a vital function in times of crisis. According to Philipp Ruch, who was born in Dresden in 1981 and is known as a performance artist, art is powerless but can offer important survival mechanisms. Salzmann, who was born in Volgograd in 1985 and received the Kleist Prize in 2024, made the same statement by describing poems as a “means of survival in existential distress”. Simon Strauß, born in Berlin in 1988 and active as a playwright, advocated rethinking the role of art in order to counteract technological brutalization.
The event, which was organized in cooperation with the Performing Arts Fund, asked whether art can not only reflect but also actively protect, especially where politics and economics fail. Ruch also criticized the tendency of many artists to overestimate themselves in the face of increasing threats to society. This debate was recorded on May 21, 2025 and has not lost its relevance.
Online advertising and its importance
However, many companies find online advertising time-consuming and complex. The campaigns are often outsourced to experienced marketing agencies who can help optimize the strategies and better reach the desired target groups. Mistakes such as inadequate target group analysis or incorrect bidding strategies can be avoided if you rely on professionals. This is particularly important for national companies that want to reach a broad audience, while local providers can use geographic targeting to advertise more effectively.
The cost of outsourcing online advertising is typically between 10% and 20% of the advertising budget. An experienced marketing agency can help significantly increase return potential through better targeting strategies and ongoing optimization. It is worth working with an office in a well-informed and transparent manner to maximize the effectiveness of campaigns.
Art and advertising - different worlds, both of which ultimately try in their own way to survive in difficult times and have a lasting influence on society.
