Full closure on Kaßberg: Here the Barbarossastraße becomes the construction site!
From Monday, July 21st, Barbarossastraße in the Kaßberg district in Chemnitz will be fully blocked for a period of the end of November 2025. This is reported Blick . The reason for this comprehensive construction work is the expansion of the district heating network, which is carried out by Ein Energie in Sachsen GmbH & Co. KG and Inetz.
affected by the closure are several areas of the street: from Limbacher Straße to Walter-Oertel-Straße and from Agricolastraße to Heinrich-Beck-Straße. Several construction phases are planned in the coming months, which will include Uhlichstraße, Henriettenstraße and many adjacent roads. The construction period is realized in various sections, with three companies being commissioned to complete the measures on time.
traffic steering and diversions
For cars and buses, extensive diversions are set up. Traffic is diverted via Limbacher Straße and Franz-Mehring-Straße as well as Ulmenstraße and Zwickauer Straße. Speed limits of 30 km/h apply on the detour routes. In addition, the traffic lights are adjusted in these areas or replaced by mobile systems so that everything works smoothly.
Special attention is paid to residents and local public transport during the construction work. The CVAG line buses are also diverted, and replacement stops will be set up by July 18. Despite the construction work, access to the properties and pedestrian traffic remains largely guaranteed, and the parking spaces are laid, if necessary.
background and outlook
The planned work is not only a challenge, but also bring long -term advantages. The aim is to connect the districts of Kaßberg and Altendorf to the modern district heating network. A total of around 400 meters of plastic coat pipe is laid on the northern Kaßberg and about 200 meters on the southern Kaßberg. This is part of the large project "Chemnitz Model Part 4", which, with an investment of around 1.7 million euros, opens up an important traffic axis in the city area and contributes to reducing CO2 emissions, such as Eins.de Explained.
The first step to implement the necessary infrastructure is now made. The work is also expressly necessary in order to achieve the climate goals in the sense of urban development. In the next few years, the northern part of the Kaßberg will also be cared for, which is good business for the residents.
We keep you up to date on the progress of this important construction measure and hope that everyone involved will come through the construction period with a good hand. For more information and current developments, you can also visit the page of Sonnenberg-chemnitz
