Dresden launches digital volunteer cards: participation for everyone!
A lot is happening in Dresden in the world of volunteer work and digital applications. The current project to introduce the Dresden Pass and the Saxon volunteer card is taking shape and will be available to citizens from mid-2026. This step is an important part of the city's plan to create a modern administration and drive digital transformation. With a comprehensive commitment, the people of Dresden can actively help shape the development of the new EUDI wallet. The start of this will take place in a co-creation lab in the new city forum, a joint project of the state capital Dresden, the city's own IT services company and the Dresden University of Technology and Economics (HTW). reports the city administration.
But what exactly is the Saxon volunteer card? It is valid nationwide for three years and is the 6th edition, valid from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2027. In order to benefit from the many discounts, a few requirements must be met. You should be at least 14 years old and also be able to provide proof of residence or involvement in the Free State of Saxony. An average commitment of three hours per week for at least two years is also required. A free commitment to the common good, which does not exceed an allowance of up to 70 euros per month, is also a prerequisite explains the official site.
Digital submission and funding programs
A further step towards the digital future is the “We for Saxony” funding program, which has been online since September 1, 2022. Here, users can conveniently manage their projects online, from submitting applications to requesting funds. This not only saves time, but also simplifies the process for everyone involved. Future changes and all necessary information are quickly at hand in the user account, so that only three documents need to be submitted by post shares the Dresden Community Foundation.
The funding aims to strengthen social cohesion and is supported by the Saxon State Ministry for Social Affairs and Social Cohesion. However, interested applicants should hurry as the opportunity to apply ends on October 31, 2022 at midnight. If you have any questions, you can contact the team directly at team-wfs@buergerstiftung-dresden.de or by phone at 0351 / 314 355 99.
In summary, Dresden is well positioned and offers its citizens many opportunities to get involved and promote volunteer work. The initiatives are not only positive signs for the community, but also a building block in the development of a modern, digital city administration.
