Dynamo Dresden: New managing directors for financial recovery!

A lot has happened in the world of football at the top of Dynamo Dresden. On October 12, 2025, exciting changes to the club's management were announced. Thomas Brendel and Stephan Zimmermann are now the key figures who, according to Dynamo Dresden, work closely together to steer the fortunes of SG Dynamo Dresden in the right direction.

Stephan Zimmermann, the newly appointed financial manager, not only brings a breath of fresh air to the club, but also takes over many central areas. This includes finance, marketing and sales - a responsible task to strengthen Dynamo's financial basis. Zimmermann will also be responsible for communications as well as fan and member service. He also takes care of events, match day organization and ticketing. Particular attention is paid to the tradition of the club as well as the topics of sustainability and social responsibility (CSR) - essential aspects of modern club management. He is also appointed second managing director of SG Dynamo Dresden Merchandising GmbH.

Double responsibility for Brendel

Thomas Brendel does not remain idle: In addition to his role in the club, he is also responsible for the football school. He will also take a place on the board of the Dixie Dörner Foundation in order to strengthen the tradition and identity of the association. The replacement of another managing director position is already being planned. The Supervisory Board recently decided to focus intensively on the future structural orientation at the managing director level. As those responsible note, the first steps and discussions towards the optimal solution have already been initiated.

Zimmermann, who previously worked at SV Wehen Wiesbaden, has great ambitions for Dynamo. The 36-year-old comes from Dresden and previously visited Global Foundries. He will take up his new position in October, with club representatives such as Michael Ziegenbalg, deputy chairman of the supervisory board, expressing optimism about future cooperation. David Fischer, who is appointed as Managing Director of Communications, also has a lot of experience. The 39-year-old was most recently active at 1. FC Saarbrücken and will start working in Dresden on August 1st. As Radio Dresden reports, both managing directors are to be presented to the press at the end of July.

The way into the future

These changes come at a crucial time, as the Dynamo Dresden sports community is in a phase of realignment. The interface between scientific findings and practical implementation in sports management is becoming increasingly important. It remains exciting to see how Dynamo Dresden will overcome this challenge and what innovations are coming up. Above all, the topics of sports marketing, event management and the management of sports organizations are on the agenda, as the specialist magazine Sport und Management highlights.

The trust in the new managers gives hope that Dynamo Dresden will be successful on and off the pitch. One thing is certain: the coming months will be crucial for the club's development.
