Eisbären Berlin celebrate a brilliant 6-2 victory in the DEL opener!

An exciting duel that drew fans to the ice rinks: On September 10, 2025, the Eisbären Berlin got off to a flying start in the opening game of the new season of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) against the Dresden Eislöwen. In front of 14,000 enthusiastic spectators who were looking forward to a real East derby, the Berliners took the lead in the 4th minute through Ty Ronning. This fast-paced game ultimately ended with a clear 6-2 win for the Eisbären.

On the one hand, the game was characterized by impressive moves, but on the other hand, there were small glitches that increased tension and emotions. So the banner for the Eisbären's eleventh championship could not be raised - a mishap that, however, did not dampen the mood of the fans. The players immediately took control and put the Dresden Ice Lions under pressure.

A gripping gameplay

After the Eisbären made it clear early in the game who was in charge on the ice, more goals followed in the first two thirds. Korbinian Geibel got past the Ice Lions' goalkeeper in the 24th minute, followed by Andreas Eder, who made it 3-1 in the 34th minute after Austin Ortega scored Dresden's first goal in the 32nd minute. Eder's goal came in an emotional moment, while the tension was present with the championship banner not yet hoisted.

The polar bears continued to dominate in the final section. Marcel Noebels set the next tone in the 42nd minute, while Liam Kirk in the 51st minute and Blaine Byron shortly before the final whistle increased the score to 6:2. For the Dresdner Eislöwen, Trevor Parkes came into the spotlight with his goal in the 59th minute, which didn't stop the former champions from clearly winning the game.

Outlook for the next challenges

The polar bears can look forward to the coming games with optimism. The encounter against the Kölner Haie is scheduled for September 14th, followed by a home game against Mannheim on September 19th. Ty Ronning, one of the standout players of the evening, was very positive about the start of the season and the hard preparation.

With such a successful start, coupled with conscientious preparation time, the Eisbären Berlin have a good hand and should be very popular this season. We can only hope that the glitches remain minimal so that the team can fully concentrate on the challenges ahead. Fans can look forward to an exciting season!
