Freital is looking for the pop star: the finale is approaching on the banks of the Elbe in Dresden!
In the coming week, Dresden will be transformed into an oasis of melody, as four talented finalists in the “Freital sucht den Schlagerstar” competition will finally be able to take the stage. On July 11th and 12th they will perform in front of the Goldener Reiter as part of the “Schlager am Elbufer” event series, where the popular pop singer Anthony Weihs will provide the musical accompaniment. This dress rehearsal before the grand finale in September will serve to collect the final touches and convince the audience of your own abilities. Entry to this exciting event is free, which makes the opportunity all the more tempting. Sächsische.de reports that the finalists come from different cities: Gertie Klaus from Dresden, Erik Sachse from Pirna, Jolyn Schenderlein from Kamenz and Martin Wimmer from Freital.
“This is a very special opportunity for the young artists to present themselves in front of a larger audience,” says Anthony Weihs, who considers the finalists’ performance to be a valuable experience. He will appear in the opening act himself and has already said positive things about the candidates' performances so far. It will be exciting to see how they use this last chance to win over the audience before the grand finale in September.
The competition in detail
With the “Freital is looking for the pop star 2025” competition, Freital has set itself the goals of promoting young talents and offering them a visible stage. The competition began with a first preliminary decision that took place on Friday in the “Sachsengarage” on Reisewitzer Straße in Dresden. Eight candidates competed against each other, including 29-year-old Erik Sachse, 17-year-old Otto Hantzsch as well as Gertie Klaus and Martin Wimmer. 23-year-old Michelle Hahn is also one of the competitors.
The jury, which includes the first mayor of Freital, Peter Pfitzenreiter, as well as the pop singer Anthony Weihs and the ex-DSDS candidate “JeLa J”, evaluated the performances according to various criteria. There were also exciting moments when, in the event of a tie, the audience was allowed to decide who would make it to the next round. As the Day24 reported, the participants were allowed to perform two secret songs, which made the performances even more interesting.
What comes after the stage?
The big highlight will be in September, when the four finalists will be on stage at the live casting as part of the Windbergfest. The winner of the competition not only receives the chance to have a professional song produced, but also valuable coaching to further advance their own music career. Such competitions are becoming increasingly important and are an important part of the German music landscape. According to the Wikipedia There are numerous music competitions in Germany that not only produce new talent, but also enrich hit and pop culture.
A bit of thrill and a lot of anticipation are guaranteed when the finalists conquer the stage with their performances. Who will delight the audience and emerge as the new pop star of the Windbergfest? That remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: preparations are already in full swing and every step counts!
