Mass stays with Towerstars: Ice hockey hero extends contract!

There is news in the ice hockey world that not only makes fans sit up and take notice. Today it was announced that the Ravensburg Towerstars have extended the contract with their defender Philipp Mass. The 24-year-old, who played an impressive role in the last DEL2 season, shows that he is firmly anchored in the club's plans. Mass moved from the Nürnberg Ice Tigers to the Towerstars last year and was able to impress with solid performances during this time.

Mass, who has also played for other clubs such as Wolfsburg and Krefeld, has played over 160 games in the PENNY DEL over the course of his career. Last season he was on the ice in 54 games and scored three goals and 14 assists, which made him a valuable pillar in the defense. The Towerstars' sporting director, Marius Riedel, was optimistic about the continued cooperation and praised Mass's understanding of the game and skills.

New addition for the Ice Lions

While the Towerstars are strengthening their offensive, the Dresdner Eislöwen have brought a promising new addition on board with 22-year-old Connor Korte. Korte is moving from EHC Freiburg to Dresden and is already the fourth stop of his professional career in Germany. He previously worked for the Hammer Eisbären and the Kassel Huskies, where he first has to get used to the high level.

The Oberndorf native has played in various youth teams in his career so far, including in Rosenheim and at EC Red Bull Salzburg. Korte has also worn the jersey of the German U-national team at international level. However, his statistics still show room for improvement: last season he only scored one goal in 14 games for Freiburg.

Ravensburg tradition and outlook

The Ravensburg Towerstars, who are fighting for the title in the DEL2, can look back on a remarkable history. Since its inception, the league has often been in transition, and the Towerstars are the proud holders of two championship titles. They won their last championship in the 2022/2023 season. They are serious competitors among the 14 teams in the DEL2. The club continues to rely on a mix of young talent and experienced players with the aim of winning the next title.

But there's not just a lot going on on the ice. Long-time defender Pawel Dronia will also be leaving the Towerstars after the coming season. Dronia, who has had an impressive career path, recently celebrated his 1000th professional appearance. With a big thank you, the club management lets him take on his new challenge.

The DEL2 has developed into the second highest division in German ice hockey, and with the past season it laid the foundation for the coming one. How the teams will put together their squads and prepare for the new challenges remains to be seen, but it will always be exciting.
