Fire Brigade Bad Muskau: Planted chestnut for climate protection!
Bad Muskau, Deutschland - It was an exemplary action that the Bad Muskau fire brigade carried out on June 20, 2025 on Berliner Strasse. Over nine brave comrades set out with spades, shovels and all sorts of tools to plant a chestnut about two meters high. This was generously donated and marks the first step of the fire brigade into the Feuerwehr-macht-beit-der-baumpflanz-challenge-mit-3uj47x7vbjc35ay5hqegupjg7u.html?outPuttype=valid_amp", die Originally launched in 2020 and is now a nationwide movement.
The challenge is to plant a tree within a week and to nominate three other organizations. At Bad Muskau, this was initially associated with difficulties, because the floor was as hard as a stone - remains of the old town hall foundation. After several attempts, the firefighters finally found the right place, brought the eating chestnut into the ground and covered them with chopping chips for protection. A metal shield that is reminiscent of the campaign was also attached. A video of the planting campaign was published via social media channels, which reflects the joy and use of the firefighters.
team spirit for climate protection
The tree planting challenge, as is also taking place in many other cities, has an important goal: to make environmental protection tangible and make a visible contribution to sustainability and climate protection. The Bad Muskau fire brigade was nominated by the Döbern fire brigade, and the nomination spread over WhatsApp in no time. In a similar campaign, the fire brigade Schwarzenberg planted three other trees and promoted the team spirit and the sense of community. She continued to nominate the fire brigades Aue, Raschau and the Wasserwacht Schwarzenberg/Grünhain. Such initiatives show that even small actions can make a real difference, such as Blick also determined.
The challenge not only has a tangible ecological benefit, but also promotes camaraderie and cohesion within the fire brigade. At the same time, awareness of the importance of a sustainable forest economy is sharpened. As the WWF emphasizes, the focus should be on the preservation and the structure of the forests. Tree species such as oaks and beeches can be planted in places where they could not grow before, which in turn contributes to CO2 savings. wwf shows that with the right care and a sustainable approach, the "primeval forests of tomorrow" can arise.
The day before the planting campaign, the Bad Muskau fire brigade had carried out another exercise in the “Lindenhof” cultural center, in which four missing people were to be saved. A total of 42 emergency services from various weirs and eight vehicles took part in this exercise. Up to this point, the Bad Muskau fire brigade has already mastered 28 missions in 2025 and proved that it is not only active for the citizens, but also has an eye on the well -being of our environment.
