Ottenhainer Schloss will soon shine in the new shine - help from the neighborhood!
In Ottenhain a lot is happening! The former Ottenhainer Castle, a once magnificent building, is currently being renovated by Susanne Schmid and Klaus Räkers with great attention to detail. After the daycare center closed its doors in the summer of 2022, the couple took the chance and bought the castle. In the meantime, the work has already made progress for over a year, and the new apartments on the attic were already able to welcome their first guests, such as the Sächsische reported.
What about the renovation? The ground floor of the imposing 500 square meter property is almost completely completed. Kitchens and bathrooms have already been renovated, and the hall is currently lovingly completed by Susanne Schmid. A fresh coat of paint for the foyer is also on the to-do list. All windows were processed or completely replaced, and the floors on the ground floor shine in the new shine after renewal. The renovation goal is set for four years and the ambitious project is well on schedule.
culture and community
The couple has set themselves the goal of creating an open house for the Ottenhainers. You have already initiated a number of cultural events. The series of events "Ottenhainer Glückj were", which takes place every second Friday of the month, has already won a loyal fan base. On average, 10 to 15 people, including numerous guests from the area, take part in these events. The next "lucky stroke" will take place on July 11th with a puppeteer.
The renovated library and the former meeting room now serve as a welcome meeting point for the village community. It is particularly nice that the Ottenhain neighbors actively support the events. Recently some of them helped clean up after a celebration, and as a small thank you you invited the couple to grill.
historical renovation in the trend
The challenges in the renovation of historical buildings are diverse, as is emphasized by the Development City . More and more project developers rely on the preservation instead of a demolition, which is also noticeable in Ottenhain. The artistic renovations and the respect of the historical substance testify to the growing awareness of the importance of such buildings in our society.
A good example of a successful renovation is the "Bertholzhofener Schlösschen" in Kallmünz, which Ludwig and Karin Bäuml have restored for almost three decades. The combination of monument protection and modern expansion has breathed new life into the building, which is also the goal of Susanne Schmid and Klaus Räkers in Ottenhain. A trend that contributes to the preservation of these imposing buildings for future generations is shown everywhere in Germany.
In the end it remains to be said: There is a lot of potential in Ottenhain, and the couple not only conquered the castle, but also the heart of the residents!
