Reichenbach cheers: Fusion of Waldhufen and Vierkirchen stopped!

Görlitz, Deutschland - On July 10, 2025, the merger of the municipalities of Waldhufen and Vierkirchen is now finally off the table. The Dresden Administrative Court ruled in June that the merger under the name Waldhufen-Vierkirchen cannot be provisionally possible. The future of the communities

What is now at stake for the communities is far -reaching. An exit of Vierkirchen from the administrative community would have resulted in a loss of around 1600 inhabitants, which would have faltered the administrative structure of Reichenbach. Pastor Andreas Fünfstück also emphasized that the parishes of Waldhufen and Vierkirchen are already merged, which makes the administrative situation a little more complicated.

Reichenbach now sees the challenge of deciding together with the district of Görlitz whether one would like to submit a complaint against the judgment of the administrative court or wait for clarification in the main proceedings. District spokesman Kevin Schlei warned that a final decision could possibly take years.
