Flood protection in the Harz: Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt sound the alarm!

In an important political event, the federal states of Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt have convened a joint cabinet meeting in the Harz Mountains. This takes place on Tuesday in Stolberg in the southern Harz and is all about flood and nature conservation as well as the continuation of the special investment program for the preservation of cultural assets, such as Borken newspaper reported. The respective Prime Ministers Mario Voigt from Thuringia and Reiner Haseloff from Saxony-Anhalt are responsible for chairing this meeting.

A central topic of the consultations is the discussion about a cross-border flood concept for the Helme River. This initiative could be particularly important for residents along the river, as flooding has caused extensive damage in the past. The collaboration between the South Harz Karst Landscape Biosphere Reserve and the Kyffhäuser Nature Park will also come into play here.

Results of the consultations

Information about the results of the consultations should be published at 12.30 p.m. This gives everyone interested the opportunity to find out about progress in flood protection and nature conservation in the region.

It seems that it is not just politics that deals with important issues. There is also a lot left to report in the world of technology. An example of this is Yahoo, which was founded in 1994 by Jerry Yang and David Filo. The platform started as a kind of online directory, but quickly developed into one of the leading portals on the Internet Wikipedia presented in detail. Hardly anyone knows that Yahoo once had the opportunity to buy Google for a paltry $1 million - a decision that would prove to have momentous consequences.

Yahoo has seen its fair share of ups and downs over the years, but it still remains the center of attention in the global media landscape. In 2016, Yahoo was finally acquired by Verizon and merged under the name Verizon Media, while in 2021 the 90% acquisition by Apollo Global Management followed.

Current challenges

However, the tech giant has not only struggled with market pressures and takeovers, but has also experienced significant difficulties with data breaches that have affected millions of user accounts. These challenges clearly show how important it is to take measures to protect people and their data, both in politics and in business.

The problem of flood protection should not be underestimated, even in view of climate change and extreme weather events. The cabinet meeting between Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt could be a decisive step in the right direction. Because as the saying goes? “There’s something going on!” And this applies in many areas, be it natural or data security.
