Arsenal rely on Gyökeres: Sesko dream package shattered!
Arsenal London is currently looking for a new, physically strong striker and the rumor mill is churning. The focus is on two promising players: Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig and Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting Lisbon. However, recent reports suggest the Gunners have broken off negotiations with Sesko, which may come as a shock to some fans. Picture reports that Arsenal are now betting on Gyökeres, who has already sent clear signals that he only wants to move to the Gunners.
However, RB Leipzig's demands for Sesko were ambitious: they demanded a total package of almost £100 million. This included 40 million euros immediately and a further 40 million euros in structured payments. Arsenal considered these offers to be excessive and were also unwilling to accept the Slovenian international's salary demands. His representatives had also demanded an exit clause, which further complicated the talks. Now Arsenal reports that Arsenal now see a more promising option in Gyökeres, who scored 97 goals in 102 games in Portugal last season.
Gyökeres in focus
Gyökeres has already rejected other offers this transfer window, including from Manchester United and Juventus. This decision highlights his desire to play at Arsenal. The positive discussions with Sporting Lisbon seem promising, as English media report that only details for Gyökeres' move still need to be clarified. Here too, a price of around 80 million euros plus bonus payments is mentioned, which is on a similar financial level to Sesko.
In contrast to Sesko, who scored 21 goals in 45 competitive games last season, Arsenal obviously have high hopes of quickly integrating Gyökeres into the team. With the aim of signing a new striker by mid-July to ensure a smooth pre-season, the Gunners appear to be on the fast track. Arsenal have already signed some promising new signings, including Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad and Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea.
The uncertainty for Leipzig
The situation for RB Leipzig remains tense. Even if there are plans to sell Sesko, no other club is interested in him yet. This could ultimately mean a not-so-lucrative transfer period for the Saxons, who have set an income target of over 100 million euros. As the days tick by until the end of the transfer window, it remains to be seen how things will pan out.
The anticipation for next season at Arsenal is growing and whether Gyökeres will actually be the new striker that the fans have been waiting for will become increasingly clear in the coming days.
