Another alarming situation occurred on Friday afternoon when a fire broke out in the forest on Polenzer Weg in Meißen. The flames spread over an area of approximately 100 by 200 meters. Accident in Gröditz
The emergency services had barely ensured security in Meißen when another incident followed in the region. A 22-year-old lost control of his vehicle in Gröditz while driving an Opel Astra. The accident occurred in a left-hand bend on Tiefenauer Straße. The car left the road, spun and ended up in a forest. A breath alcohol test showed a level of around 1.3 per mille, which doesn't exactly indicate responsible driving. The police initiated a blood sample and secured the driver's license, who had probably looked a little too deeply into the glass.
A blatant case of fraud
On Saturday there was also a brazen case of fraud in Coswig. A 31-year-old offered a high-quality wristwatch on the main street via a classifieds portal. When it was handed over, he received 15,000 euros in an envelope from an interested buyer. But then the unthinkable happened: The suspected deceiver distracted the seller and exchanged the envelope, so that the injured party later only found a 50 euro note and a wad of paper. A clever trick that made the provider a lot of money - but the joy about it will certainly be short-lived when the police start their investigation.
