Trial finale after break-in: perpetrator shows remorse, escape unclear!

The topic of burglary is currently keeping the region in suspense. In the last few days, several cases have come to light that are being intensively investigated by the criminal police. A break-in that occurred on the night of August 17th to 18th, 2019 in a Coswig forestry company is particularly worrying. This incident received its legal clarification on November 7, 2025, when the final trial against Kevin L. ended. The defendant appeared remorseful and faced the consequences of his actions. The case not only sheds light on the break-in, which happened five years ago, but also raises other questions, such as the identity of the driver of the getaway vehicle.

During the nighttime attack, three men and a woman sneaked onto the company premises and easily scaled the fence. They forced open the door of a shed and discovered a box full of keys, which they could then use to open the access doors to the administration buildings and parked vehicles. Two of the perpetrators were already convicted by the Meißen district court in 2020, but the question of who drove the getaway vehicle remains unclear to this day.

Current series of burglaries in the region

While Kevin L.'s trial was being concluded, reports of break-ins in the region were increasing. Between October 24th and 26th, 2025, another break-in occurred in a single-family home on Blauberg Street in Coswig. The perpetrators broke open a window and searched the rooms of the house, although it remains unclear whether anything was stolen. The material damage caused amounts to around 1,500 euros. This incident is part of a series of burglaries that also affected Radebeul, where four residential buildings were attacked. In total, the damage caused by this series amounts to over 10,000 euros, and the criminal police are still looking for witnesses to arrest the perpetrators.

In addition to the break-ins, a case of graffiti vandalism in Niederau is now causing a stir. On October 25, 2025, a 15-year-old teenager and his three accomplices were caught spraying an underpass at the railway underpass on Meißner Straße. While three perpetrators were able to escape, the young person was arrested and he and two other identified young people are being investigated for property damage.

More crime in the region?

But it's not just burglaries and vandalism that worry citizens. On October 26, 2025, a 19-year-old e-scooter driver was checked whose vehicle was reported stolen. During the check it turned out that the driver was also under the influence of amphetamines. The e-scooter was stolen last year and the police launched an investigation into stolen goods and other violations. Traffic wasn't without problems either, as a drunken driver in Nünchritz significantly exceeded the alcohol limit and was also stopped and his driver's license was confiscated.

At a time when safety within one's own four walls and on the streets is becoming more and more of a focus, it is to be hoped that the police will ensure quick clarification and that citizens can feel safer - because especially in the dark season the focus is on prevention and education in order to prevent such offenses.
