Road renovation in Großenhain: 300,000 euros for better roads!

The city of Großenhain is tackling it: With a fresh investment volume of 300,000 euros, three important road projects are on the agenda that are intended to significantly improve the city's traffic flow. The measures are supported by financial resources from the Saxon financial equalization, such as Saxon reported.

At the meeting of the city council's technical committee, the three affected street sections were officially approved: Thomas-Mann-Straße, Kleinraschützen Straße and the Merschwitzer Straße railway crossing. These decisions are based on a 2022 concept based on a detailed assessment and local review.

The projects in detail

The planned repair of Thomas-Mann-Straße is around 195 meters long. Among other things, individual cracks in a transverse and longitudinal arrangement, network cracks in the edge area and several patches can be noted here. Costs of 96,000 euros are expected for this renovation work.

There is also a need for action on Kleinraschützen Straße: the surface damage is particularly severe over a stretch of around 285 meters, especially in the area of the junction with Riesaer Straße. A financial outlay of around 144,000 euros is expected here.

The Federal Railway Authority also suggested a change to the level crossing on Merschwitzer Straße, which will be incorporated into the planning. These adjustments are essential to comply with current standards.

The role of the Saxon financial equalization

The financing of these measures is guaranteed by the decree of the Saxon State Ministry of Finance, which came into force on December 23, 2022. This decree regulates the conditions under which flat-rate allocations can be used for the repair, renewal and creation of roads and cycle paths. After Decree The use of these allocations includes a variety of costs that are the responsibility of the municipalities. The possibilities for using funds are wide-ranging, from substance conservation to nature conservation measures.

The municipal financial equalization, which will continue to support cities and municipalities in the future, is renegotiated every two years as part of the state budget. The municipalities share in the tax revenue of the Free State. This ensures a regular financial base that allows cities to continually improve their infrastructure, as stated on the website LKT Saxony becomes clear.

With these comprehensive renovation plans, Großenhain is well on the way to significantly improving the quality of traffic for its citizens. The city administration is showing a good knack for future-proof investments and sustainable infrastructure development.
