Burglauf in Leisnig: Local wins in the rain and cheering spectators!

Beaming faces despite the rain: The Leisniger Burglauf took place last Sunday, October 5, 2025, in the midst of pouring rain, but that didn't stop the 110 starters from enjoying the competition. The main race was won by local Edmilson Gomes from SV 52 Zschaitz, who had already competed in a half marathon on Friday and still completed the eight-kilometer distance confidently. Such perseverance impressed not only the organizers of the event, but also the large number of spectators.

The event, which took place in the Kanuheim at Muldenwiese, was part of the Central Saxony Running Tour and offered participants a wide range of distances, including 4, 8 and 12 kilometer runs, as well as a 500 meter children's run. “The route was in good condition, despite the adverse weather conditions,” noted chief organizer Annett Naumann, who, together with her team, gave a consistently positive assessment.

The winners of the castle run

In the fight for the podium places, Edmilson Gomes used all his energy and secured first place in his race, while the young Hermine Berndt from Geringswalde won the women's ranking in the U16 age group. The castle run was not only dominated by the experienced runners, but also by the younger talents who demonstrated their skills.

  • Sieger Hauptrennen (8 km): Edmilson Gomes (SV 52 Zschaitz)
  • Siegerinnen Frauenwertung: Hermine Berndt (Geringswalde)

Registration was straightforward, both online until 12pm on Saturday and immediately before the competition, allowing participants to remain flexible. The registration fees of 1 to 8 euros were also quite friendly to the runners' wallets. Many also came simply to experience the local atmosphere and enjoy the gastronomy, which offered food and drinks.

A look into the future

Not only was this year's run a complete success, the next few years are also coming into focus. The organizers have already announced the anniversary edition of the Burglauf for 2026. “We received a lot of positive feedback and are looking forward to expanding the event further next year,” said Naumann. This sounds like a great event that will continue to be very popular in the future.

In summary, it can be said that the Leisniger Burglauf was a complete success even under difficult conditions and that both participants and spectators got their money's worth. The SV Leisnig 90 e.V. and the cycling and running group can be proud of this event, which, as the positive response shows, is firmly anchored in the region. If you would like to be there next time, you should register in good time and take advantage of the opportunity to experience this wonderful event.
