Freiberg celebrates with big acts and a captivating festival: The 38th Bergstadtfest!

Starting today there will be big celebrations in Freiberg! On June 26, 2025, the 38th Bergstadtfest will open with a ceremonial tapping of the barrel, which Mayor Martin Seltmann will conduct at 6 p.m. The Silver City Queen Laura and the Bergmusikkorps Saxonia Freiberg e.V. will be there. This festival, which lasts until June 29th, attracts numerous visitors every year and transforms the historic old town into a colorful party zone.

What awaits the guests? This year, the approximately 160,000 expected visitors can look forward to an event program that includes almost 100 program items and will be presented on ten different stages. Musical highlights include a concert by the Mittelsächsische Philharmonie at the opening, such as View reported. The Pink Floyd tribute band Lunatic also creates a great atmosphere. Duo Leander and the Other will present an emotional duet around 9 p.m.

Colorful adventure worlds and great parties

The mountain town festival attracts with exciting adventure worlds that offer, among other things, rides such as a Ferris wheel and a roller coaster. Historic market stalls invite you to look over the shoulders of craftsmen, shopkeepers, jugglers and minstrels. Families in particular will get their money's worth here: a bungee trampoline, a high ropes course, a petting zoo and archery are available to delight the little guests.

The big mountain parade on Sunday, which attracts over 750 miners and smelters, is another highlight of the festival. On this day, visitors are also treated to a traditional mountain service and a rousing final fireworks display. Sachsen-net also highlights the deep-rooted culture and customs of this region, which make the Silver City so lively.

Parties and acts for every taste

On Friday, revelers can look forward to the MDR JUMP DANCE NIGHT, where Groove Coverage and Venga Venga will create a 90s atmosphere. Saturday celebrates with pop singer JORIS and the HITRADIO RTL summer party, which presents other acts such as Stamping Feet and “These Guys”. On Sunday the festival is rounded off perfectly with a rockabilly & boogie-woogie party featuring Ray Collins’ Hot Club.

Visitors who would like to take a piece of the festival home with them can enjoy a special Bergstadtfest pin, which is available in a limited edition of 1,000 at the tourist information center and symbolizes support for the festival. The price is 3.50 euros and serves as a collector's item for fans of the festival.

Although entry to the festival is free, children and teenagers can also enjoy a limo disco on Friday from 5 p.m. Freiberg.de also offers a detailed program on their website that you shouldn't miss!
