Mochauer Schülerzeitung Die Mücke is the best in Saxony!

Mochau, Deutschland - In the lively media world of Saxony, the school newspaper “Die Mücke” of the Mocha primary school recently celebrated a remarkable success. On June 21, 2025, at the ceremony of the Saxon Youth Journalism Award, the primary school was able to look forward to third place in the geographically diverse selection. According to Sächsische.de The jury honored the "mosquito" for its thematic width and creative forms of expression in the articles. The prize is awarded in cooperation by the Ministry of Culture in Saxony and the Jugendpresse Saxony Press.

The award took place in the charming media campus Villa Ida in Leipzig, where a total of 33 prizes were awarded in different categories. The number of school newspapers and individual contributions submitted rose to 172, which meant a small but fine growth compared to the previous year. Media Service Sachsen reports that the winners also received book prices and cash premiums. The award ceremony not only took a few minutes, but the event was peppered with workshops and a school newspaper bazaar.

a committed editorial office

"The mosquito" is operated by a group of dynamic students in the third and fourth classes who work with passion at the school newspaper. Under the leadership of project manager Dagmar Domsberg and headmistress Petra Seidel, the young editors have refined their skills in recent years. Seidel praised the persistence and determination of the students, who are reflected in the well -researched and creatively designed editions. The team brought second class students on board for the first time this year, which gives the project a fresh wind.

The school newspaper covers exciting topics that range from everyday school life and teacher interviews to school events and creative craft tips. Discussions about the topic of "our school in change" and the conversation about the mobile phone ban were particularly interested. A well thought -out table of contents, sources and an imprint make “the mosquito” a real highlight in the field of student journalism. The evaluation criteria were diverse and included both inner and external design, journalistic approaches and the interests of the readers, as from Leipziger Internet Zeitung explained.
