Raid in Chemnitz: Police strike against child pornography!

In the last few days, comprehensive searches have been carried out in the Chemnitz region, in the Ore Mountains and in Central Saxony. The goal: fighting child pornography. As the Freie Presse reported from Wednesday to Friday to Friday A total of ten locations. The Chemnitz criminal police relied on active support from the specialist service of the Chemnitz Police Directorate and the Saxon riot police.

The searches were directed against German citizens between the ages of 17 and 61. Numerous cell phones and storage media were secured in cities such as Chemnitz, Brand-Erbisdorf, Freiberg, Rochlitz, Schwarzenberg and Zwönitz. These devices are now evaluated, but the investigation will take time. Particularly noticeable: no arrests were made, which makes the dimension of the deeds all the more clearer.

background and international dimension

The sometimes terrifying dimensions of child pornography are not only limited to the region. At the international level, a blow against the Darknet platform "Kidflix" recently caused a stir. As the Tagesspiegel was reported, which was frequented by about 1.8 million users, with a global action of Investigators switched off from 38 countries. 1,400 suspects were identified and 79 arrests were carried out. Access to the platform was associated with high costs and thousands of electronic devices were confiscated during the investigation.

"Kidflix" was not only one of the largest platforms worldwide for pedophiles, but was explicitly set up to achieve financial profits. It is worrying that the investigation could also identify abused children. In this context it becomes clear how important it is to protect those affected. Everywhere, families of exploited children often feel left alone. Help can be given, among other things, by organizations such as the NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children). These offer support and crisis intervention for victims and their relatives.

the way to support

Affected by cybercriminal activities should not hesitate to contact trustworthy adults. You can also obtain support by self -report to the cybertiplines. The feeling of loneliness in such stressful situations is overwhelming, but helpful offers are ready. The NCMEC team is a volunteer program that combines families with similar experiences and is at the side of them in crisis times, as on the website of the National point for missing and exploited children.

It remains to be hoped that the ongoing investigation and raids will make a decisive contribution to combating these hideous crimes and that the awareness of these topics in society will be further strengthened.
