The anticipation of the Freiberg Christmas market, which takes place from November 25th to December 22nd, is increasing in the city. Warehouse work and deliveries are already underway as the city prepares for the upcoming highlight of the Advent season. The Christmas tree is scheduled to be delivered and installed on November 10th, followed by the arrival of the market stalls from November 11th. The construction of the traditional pyramid, which represents the mining history, starts on November 14th. View reports that the ceremonial opening of the Christmas market will begin with a fairytale procession on November 25th.
But what else can visitors expect? Everyone can look forward to a variety of events, including concerts, readings and programs for children. The regular opening hours of the Christmas market are Monday to Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday and Saturday until 10:00 p.m., and on Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The shops in the old town are also open until 6 p.m. on Mondays to Saturdays - very practical for anyone who wants to buy the last gifts. Special highlights in Advent
One of the special highlights of the Freiberg Christmas market is the Stollen Festival with the traditional cutting of the Stollen on November 30th. Other highlights include the torchlit mountain parade on December 6th and the Miner's Festival, celebrated on December 14th. Finally, the start of the Christmas holiday on December 22nd heralds the end of the market. Further details about this event will be published in mid-November and promise to make the contemplative time even more festive.
There are of course numerous other Christmas markets in the region that are worth visiting. For example, the Frankfurt Christmas market takes place on the Römerberg. Here visitors can expect a festively decorated Christmas tree backdrop and popular drinks such as mulled wine and “Ebbelwoi”. From November 27th to December 21st the market is open to everyone, Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Vogue also highlights the Cranger Christmas magic in Herne, which transforms the fairground into a large theme park, as well as the Christmas market at the Mannheim water tower, which is particularly easy to reach for train travelers.
