In West Saxony, athletics are trained diligently and successes are celebrated! On August 11, 2025, young athlete Anna Pashkovskaya appears at the Soyuz sports forum and is ready to demonstrate her talent. Her enthusiasm is palpable as she pitches up for SV Vorwärts Zwickau shortly before school starts and training begins. The young athlete and her club colleagues benefit from a strong development system that has recently come into the spotlight. Free press reports that the club hosted an event last week to celebrate the club's talent and shine a spotlight on its coaches.
What makes athletics in Saxony so special? A key component is the Talent Support Center (TSP), which plays a key role in supporting young athletes. The TSP works closely with sports schools, regional trainers and youth coordinators to create optimal conditions for the athletes. As part of the youth work, the Talent Association (TV) was launched in 2024, which is intended to provide additional support in the system. LVSaxony explains that the TV focuses, among other things, on the recognition of competition work and trainer licensing. This is done with the aim of promoting and structuring talent identification and management training.
Achievements and recognition
The combination of these measures is already having an impact: in 2025, there will be a total of 13 talent bases and 10 talent clubs in Saxony that are actively committed to promoting young talent. The appointment of these institutions took place on January 18, 2025 in Chemnitz. A lot has been done to offer the young athletes the best conditions.
Studies and statistics from the region show that the athletes of SV Vorwärts Zwickau can celebrate significant successes not only in training, but also at national and central German levels. Many people in charge see this development in athletics as a positive sign for the sports landscape in Saxony.
