Pure nostalgia: Legends of disco culture in Northern Saxony awaken!

In northern Saxony in the 1990s, the party scene knew no stopping. Popular discos such as “Tropics”, “Tiffany” and “Galaxy” attracted countless night owls and influenced an entire generation. Back then, the “Tiffany” in Schildau was an absolute hotspot. Young people met here to celebrate and dance the night away. This atmosphere later found a new home in PEP Torgau. DJs like Marusha, Westbam and DJ Movie really heated up the partygoers and made the evenings unforgettable.

Another highlight was the “Galaxy” in Bad Düben, which was known for its legendary foam parties. The site originally opened in the 1970s as a clubhouse for the NVA. After reunification, it was first used as “Tatüü” before taking the party scene by storm in 1997 as “Galaxy”. Operators always tried to build on old successes with different names such as Fuego Club or Cube Club, but the golden age was hard to beat.

Oschatz and the dance culture

Oschatz also played a central role in the region's nightlife. The Gasthof Zschöllau in particular has been a meeting point for disco fans since 1977. The “Youth Disco” and later the “Discotreff ’88” took place here, which created countless memories for the party-goers. The “Tropics” in Oschatz also became an icon of the post-reunification period and attracted many dancers.

These discos were often the first places for young people to celebrate coming of age. Even in small villages, disco events and dance evenings took place, which were the social highlights for many. Visitors are encouraged to share their memories and photos from this lively time to keep the nostalgic feel of the party nights alive.

Memories of the first discos

With stories of wild crowds and amusing memories, the “Old Forester” became a legend. Jürgen Gade, another DJ of this era, reported on student nurses whose return times were often exceeded because the parties were simply too tempting. On certain Fridays over 500 guests came and went and such numbers show how lively that time was.

The memories of these legendary nights are not only valuable in retrospect; they are part of the cultural identity that has shaped society. The gap left by these discos is large, but the nostalgia remains and ensures that the party culture remains popular.
