Bobsleigh run Altenberg: mammoth season starts with challenges and innovations!
The bobsleigh track in Altenberg is facing an exciting season and promises more highlights than ever before. “We have a lot planned,” says Jens Morgenstern, managing director of Wintersport Altenberg GmbH. The international season begins on December 1st with a double European Skeleton Cup. Preparations for the longest season in the history of the bobsleigh track, which will last until March 15, 2024, are already in full swing. Cooling machines were turned on on October 20th and the track has been under ice for a week from the start of the bobsleigh, which benefits the athletes and spectators alike. DNN
A big focus this season was on construction work. Unfortunately, those responsible had to contend with a number of challenges, including inadequately installed valves and a foreign body in the feed line, which made it difficult for the railway to ice up. However, after the first competition on December 1st at the latest, it will become clear whether the problems have been overcome. The World Cup finals in bobsleigh and skeleton, taking place January 12-18, will be an important dress rehearsal for athletes like Francesco Friedrich as they prepare for the Winter Olympics in Italy.
Construction work and events
Construction work on the new start and function building in turn eight will last until the end of December. Despite these challenges and the need to cancel the planned course to select the German national skeleton team, the entire organization is optimistic. “We have had a very eventful summer,” said Morgenstern. “We can only hope that the weather conditions cooperate.” Tickets for the World Cup Finals and the Junior World Championships in luge and skeleton, which will take place in Altenberg from January 27, 2026, are already available for pre-sale.
Sporty outlook
While the bobsleigh track is actively working towards the highlights of the winter season, the NFL is not standing still either. The Kansas City Chiefs have released their schedule for the 2025 season and face one of the toughest challenges in their history, with a projected record of 12-5 next year Heavy. Analysts predict that the Chiefs will face tough teams like the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills, with many games taking place at home. The challenge of improving their own performance is even greater for Kansas City because they were able to win many close games last year. This will probably not be so easy in 2025.
The bobsleigh track in Altenberg and the National Football League – two sporting events that will be in the spotlight in the coming weeks and months. Whether on skates or in the stadium, sports fans are well equipped to watch exciting competitions!
