Colorful festival of diversity: CSD Pirna celebrates on July 12th!

On July 12, 2025, the market in front of the town hall in Pirna transformed into a scene of colors and diversity when the 14th Christopher Street Day (CSD) is celebrated. The association CSD Pirna has set up an exciting program that attracts numerous visitors from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Around 1,200 people came in the last edition, and the organizers hope for even greater encouragement this year.

With the slogan "Diversity goes through society", acceptance, tolerance and equality of homosexuals and other sexual minorities are the focus of the event. The well-known Berlin Drag Queens Brigitte and Mataina, who are guaranteed to create the mood, take over the moderation. Music lovers can look forward to appearances by Soul singer Esther Filly from Delmenhorst, pop singer Freshdina (Claudia Gargiulo) from Berlin, the pop singer and songwriter Kevin Neon from Nordhausen and from Braunschweig Luca Mahone (Luca Nawatzky).

a festival for the community

The CSD is aimed not only at the LGBTQIA+ community, but also to supporters. Clubs, parties, organizations and associations are invited to participate and make their commitment to the diversity visible. Stand areas are ready to present information and actions, promote exchange and make new contacts. Interested parties can register via info@csd-pirna.de to become part of this colorful festival.

The origins of the CSD lead back to a turning point in the history of the LGBTQ+movement. Originally in 1969 in New York, when the uprising in the "Stonewall Inn" against police raids got the emancipation movement rolling, the CSD has established itself worldwide since then. The first CSD parade in Berlin took place in 1979 and attracted 450 participants who created a cheerful and fear-free atmosphere. Today, on the other hand, the CSD is also a reflection of social changes and a place in which the original political messages of the movement have to be emphasized again and again, such as bpb.de reported.

While the events grow continuously and gain popularity, the commercialization of the CSD is also discussed. Critics fear that the political message of the first few hours will threaten to fall behind. Nevertheless, the CSD remains a strong sign of diversity and cohesion, in which all interested parties can take part.

So we prepare for an unforgettable festival of the community and tolerance when the 14th CSD in Pirna opens its doors on July 12th. The anticipation is great - and we are looking forward to a real spectacle of the colors and sounds!
