Fairy tale festival at the Königstein fortress: Slavic magic for young and old!
A special highlight awaits visitors to the Königstein fortress on July 27, 2025 when the fairy tale festival is celebrated under the motto "It was once ...". This event is already celebrating its tenth anniversary and not only attracts the little ones, but also the big fairy tale lovers. From 10.30 a.m., guests can look forward to a diverse program that includes readings, drama and music and immerses them deeply into the fascinating world of the Slavic culture. Entry is included in the regular fortress, so that you can concentrate entirely on the magical performances, while you can enjoy the impressive backdrop 240 meters above the Elbe valley.
The performances of the “Pappenschtira” showcast theater are particularly exciting under the direction of Christiane Guhr. Together with her, the illustrator Anne Ibelings will build a nostalgic miniature stage and tell stories with the help of cardboard, light and shadow. The well -known Bautzen songwriters "Lightfoot and Liederliesel" will also be on site with a musical puppet play, which brings figures from Sorbian mythology to life, including the lunch woman, Lutki and the lucky dragon Plon. Two performances of the children's musical "Fischers Franzi and the secret of the old magnifying glass" as well as the play "The saga of the cabbage throat" are also on the program.
creative hands -on activities
The fairy tale festival not only has ready -made performances, but also numerous hands -on activities. Visitors are invited to do creatively and to design glitter tattoos or to create their works of art in the print and wood workshop. In order to give the little guests even more fun, costumes are available that can be loaned on site. This is a great opportunity for children to slip into the role of their favorite characters from the fairy tales.
The event should also enable the cultural heritage to celebrate and to keep the stories of the Slavic peoples alive. The importance of Slavic mythology, which is characterized by a variety of beliefs, legends and traditions, is emphasized by the readings organized by the Pirna City Library. These stories not only reflect the values of the Slavic peoples, but also reveal the connections between the past and the present. Magic elements, such as they can be found in ritual practices, will create an exciting atmosphere.
