Bright day for the Saxons: Sebnitz celebrates diversity and sport!

Last weekend, from September 5th to 7th, 2025, the city of Sebnitz experienced a festive highlight that made the hearts of visitors beat faster. The Day of the Saxons attracted over 150,000 people to the idyllic city, who celebrated together a colorful program around sport, culture and politics. The motto “To Blooming Experiences” paid tribute to the region’s traditional artificial flower craft.

The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the big parade on Sunday, which impressively reflected the diversity of Saxony with around 1,800 participants. In bright sunshine, visitors were able to stroll through Sebnitz city center, which was transformed into a lively themed landscape with eleven stages and numerous stands for the celebrations.

Focus on sporting diversity

Particular attention was paid to the appearance of the State Sports Association of Saxony (LSB), which has been part of the festival since 1992. Numerous hands-on activities awaited visitors at our own stand, supported by around 30 clubs from Saxon. The sports mile offered a wealth of activities, including dance performances, show training as well as challenging stations such as a biathlon simulator, wheelchair course and children's gymnastics. This attracted young and old alike, and celebrities such as Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer and Interior Minister Armin Schuster did not miss the opportunity to take an active part.

The events are not only a feast for the senses, but are also full of meaning: The Day of the Saxons aims to demonstrate the unifying role of sport in social life. It turns out that voluntary commitment and community spirit are very popular in Saxony and are strengthened by such festivals.

A celebration for all generations

The event not only offered sporting activities, but also a varied stage program and regional specialties. The “Blue Light Mile” for any technology fans promised exciting insights into the work of the police, customs and rescue services. Modern rides were available for those seeking thrills, while the Czech town of Dolní Poustevna added its own contributions.

The organization behind the event was strong: sponsors such as Sächsische Lotto-GmbH made the colorful hustle and bustle possible and helped to realize the numerous themed miles and activities. The Day of the Saxons not only became a showcase for the cultural treasures of the Free State, but also a platform for integration and the promotion of social networks between clubs, which are essential for social cohesion.

Overall, it can be said that the Day of the Saxons 2025 in Sebnitz was characterized by a happy atmosphere and strengthened the community experience in an unmistakable way. The flourishing experiences celebrated by over 150,000 visitors will hopefully continue to resonate for years to come.
